5 of the Worst Weeds That Sprout in Fall
Some weeds actually prefer sprouting in the cooling temperatures of fall, surviving in a semi-dormant state over winter, then kicking into high growth gear in spring.
Lambsquarters (Chenopodium album) is generally upright, but may lean when it gets large. It can get 3 feet tall or more. It does well in sun or shade. If left unchecked, lambsquarters will release thousands of seeds, which can sit for months only to sprout when the soil is disturbed for planting.
Lambsquarters is one of the many weeds that Preen Garden Weed Preventer controls by keeping their seeds from germinating. Preen Garden Weed Preventer can be used around more than 200 plants, including perennials, trees and shrubs.
