Weed Characteristics

Other Names: jointed charlock, wild kale, wild turnip, white charlock

Leaf Type: Broadleaf

Flowers: White, pink, purple, blue or yellow

Leaves: Elliptical with a large lobe at the end, purple veins and bristly hairs

Life Cycle: Winter annual

Young plants form a rosette of large, lobed leaves covered with coarse, bristly hairs. Mature reach 3 ft. tall with multiple branches and smaller leaves. Flowers have 4 petals and often display prominent purple veining. Distinctive seed pods resemble narrow, miniature pea pods.
