When to Apply
Apply Preen Southern Weed Preventer anytime during the growing season only around established plants. It should not be used on flower seeds, but may be used after flowering plants have germinated and are 2-3 inches tall. Since it does not kill existing weeds, you must first remove any that have already begun to grow.
By applying Preen Southern Weed Preventer as early as possible, however, you may eliminate the need for hand weeding. For the maximum in plant maintenance, reapply every 4 months.
Applying Around Established and Transplanted Plants
For flowers, roses, herbs, ground covers, ornamental grasses, shrubs, and trees, sprinkle Preen Southern Weed Preventer evenly over the entire soil surface, then water the weed preventer into the soil’s surface. Always wash or brush off stray granules from plant foliage.
Applying with Mulch
For best weed control, we recommend applying Preen Southern Weed Preventer after spreading mulch on your flower and shrub beds. Sprinkle the product on top of mulch at surface rate, then water into the mulch to activate.
NOT FOR USE ON VEGETABLE GARDENS OR LAWNS.
